Chocolate Peppermint Brownies
These fudgy chocolate peppermint brownies are a festive and delicious dessert for the holiday season. The rich chocolate flavor is perfectly balanced by the refreshing peppermint, and the chocolate ganache on top adds an extra layer of indulgence. Serve these brownies with a glass of cold milk for the ultimate winter treat.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9x9-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking until smooth. Add the flour and salt, and stir just until the flour is incorporated.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake the brownies for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few crumbs clinging to it. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the baking dish.
In a small saucepan, bring the heavy cream to a simmer. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate chips, stirring until the chocolate is melted and the ganache is smooth.
Spread the ganache over the cooled brownies and sprinkle with the crushed peppermint candies.
Allow the ganache to set before slicing and serving the brownies.
